一马当先 — "one horse leads the way" — is the Chinese blessing for whoever goes first and gets there first. The horse is painted in warm chestnut against cool ink-wash peaks, with the flying mane and tail doing the work of speed, and the deep meaning of the image is 马到成功, success arriving with the horse. Hang it in an office, an entryway or a study, where the day's first move gets made. Symbolism & Feng Shui Hang this piece where its symbolism serves you best — above a desk or sideboard for steady fortune, or near an entrance so its guardian presence faces outward.
